Silver Skills

Editorial Process

How Silver Skills keeps scam-safety scenarios educational, grounded, and respectful.

What Silver Skills is

Silver Skills is an educational coaching app. It helps adults practice spotting common scam patterns through short scenarios.

What Silver Skills is not

  • It is not a real-time scam detector.
  • It does not read your real texts, emails, calls, or voicemails.
  • It is not medical, clinical, legal, tax, or financial advice.
  • It does not assess memory, cognition, or decision-making capacity.

Content standards

  • Scenarios use safe fake phone numbers, senders, and web addresses.
  • Feedback uses plain language and avoids fear-based copy.
  • Every scenario includes citations from public sources where appropriate.
  • Review status is tracked before content is published in the app.

Research grounding

Scenario categories and teaching rules are informed by public sources such as the Federal Trade Commission, AARP, National Council on Aging, Pew Research Center, FBI IC3, and peer-reviewed gerontology research.

If you think you were scammed

Do not send money or click links. Call someone you trust and contact your bank using a number from a statement or the back of your card. You can report fraud at reportfraud.ftc.gov or ic3.gov.

Silver Skills

Short, calm scam-safety practice for adults and families.
